Life Sciences Institute in partnership with the Departments of Biochemistry, Cellular & Physiological Sciences and Microbiology & Immunology have been successful in their proposal for funding from HSE from the Healthy Workplace Initiatives Program Fund.
FUN – Let’s all get up from our lab bench or our desks & get moving – Try something different!
What it means for you is that there will be 6 Free sessions in the Osborne Gym for everything from Spin classes, to Strength & Stretching and Core Strengthening for up to 20 participants while the remaining 20 people make use of the elliptical trainers, treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights and other fitness equipment available, there will be trainers in attendance to monitor & provide guidance if needed as well as teaching the class – each class is limited to a maximum of 40 participants (and will be held between 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm).
The first upcoming Gym Day is Wednesday February 2nd and spaces are filled on a first come first serve basis. Please email Sue Palichuk at susan.palichuk[at]ubc.ca to register.
- A short questionnaire will need to be completed & returned to Susan Palichuk for those attending the fitness / fun class before the class is held – these will be given to Human Kinetics
- Also a waiver would need to be signed at the gym on the day of the class.
- Be sure to respond to a short survey we will send to you after the class
We will also be hosting 6 lunch time sessions here in LSC 1330 that will provide information on “Stretching in the Workplace” –“ Posture & Back Care” & “Injury Prevention”
