The Department of Microbiology and Immunology offers five distinct undergraduate programs.  These programs include the Major in Microbiology and Immunology (MBIM), the Honours in Microbiology and Immunology (MBIM), the Combined Major between Computer Science, Microbiology and Immunology, the Combined Honours between Computer Science, Microbiology and Immunology, and the Joint Degree Honours in Biotechnology (BIOT).

The two MBIM programs include a flexible list of selections that allow students to take a wide range of courses within the field or specialize in areas of biotechnology, molecular microbiology, environmental microbiology, bioinformatics, immunology, virology or pathogenic microbiology.  Both MBIM programs can be combined with other programs to take advantage of the opportunities for a Double Major or a Minor in Arts, Commerce, Lands and Food Systems, Human Kinetics or Science; as well as the Co-operative Education Program in Microbiology and Biotechnology.

The two Combined Programs with Computer Science are a bit more restrictive but require less course work than the Double Programs and provide more access to core courses than the minor.  They are more specifically oriented towards bioinformatics than the other programs.  Both of the Combined Programs can be combined with the Co-operative Education Program.

The BIOT program is a separate co-operative education program in the field of biotechnology.  It is offered as a Joint Degree Program by co-operating departments at UBC and BCIT.
