      Research Description
                  Understanding the role and mechanics of iron storage, release, and detoxification mediated by the protein ferritin.        
 
      Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree? 
                  I discovered my love for microbiology after taking an introductory course on a whim in my second year in a general biology degree. I ended up gradating with a specialization in the subject, and decided to pursue a graduate degree in order to further my understanding, challenge myself, and open the door for more career opportunities in the future.        

      What do you like to do for fun or relaxation?
                  Reading, hiking, travelling, movies/television, yoga.        

      What advice do you have for new graduate students?
                  Find a lab/project that really piques your interest, because you're in it for the long haul.
