Career “Ask Me Anything” Café (Dr. Derek Clouthier)

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in collaboration with CBR, invites our members to our professional development series: Career “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) Café! The aim of this series is to provide a casual and intimate networking environment where attendees can learn about diverse science career paths, gain insight about the job market around the world, and directly ask questions to the professionals.

Our next virtual café will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 10-11 am, and our mentor is Dr. Derek ClouthierMedical Advisor for Immuno-oncology at AstraZeneca Canada.

Dr. Derek Clouthier is currently the Medical Advisor for Immuno-oncology at AstraZeneca Canada.  At AstraZeneca, Derek leads the national Medical Affairs strategy for immuno-oncology, and works with key external experts and internal stakeholders from Canada and around the world to advance the science of AstraZeneca’s medicines.  Prior to his work at AstraZeneca, Derek worked in similar roles at Ipsen and Pfizer after leaving an academic role at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre as the Lead of the Immune Profiling Team.  Derek holds a PhD in Immunology from the University of Toronto, where he studied the role of T cell co-signaling molecules.  In his spare time he enjoys playing volleyball (pre-COVID!), binging almost anything on Netflix, and exploring the Hamilton/Niagara region with his fiancé Jamie and their Frenchie, Apollo.
